REMEMBER?
Did you have milk delivered
to your door in the little silver-colored box by Thompson’s®
Honor Dairy? Did you have the glass bottles with the little faces
at the top and the little white paper hats? Do you remember when
the train engine crashed through the floor at Union Station in D.C.?
Did you ever go to Glen Echo Amusement Park on the streetcar?
Do
YOU have any memories of the "way we were"?
Send
them to me and I will publish them here for all to enjoy.
Our newest D.R. Alumnus member,
John Schoeni, has generously agreed to contribute a series of his recollections.
I know you will enjoy reading about growing up in our world from his perspective
and if his tales stir some journalistic juices in you, all the better.
John and his family were early residents of Alexandria and around the Del
Ray area. He spent his formative years attending local Catholic elementary
schools. He started high school at Gonzaga in Washington, D.C., but later
transferred and graduated from George Washington High in 1965.
