      At the Angora Rabbit farm near Oudtshoorn

      Angora sweaters and other clothing items are considered as an investment for a lifetime. The fibres have rounded ends, unlike mohair, and therefore clothing feels soft and smooth against the skin.

      Any and all work has to be done by hand. Even the spinning process on this farm is a manual operation.

      The rabbits' fur has to be plucked from time to time, or else it becomes matted and the animal feels extremely uncomfortable. Because of new hair growth, there is no pain when the long hairs are pulled out.
