Capybara, largest rodent in the world

No, it is not a hamster on steroids!
The boys only have eyes for the shy capybara at the Cango Wildlife Ranch
at Outshoorn.

site giving more details about these animals.
For instance, they are found in South America, south to Argentina, west to the Andes, and north to Panama. So this one is a visitor in South Africa! In Buenos Aires City Zoo, we saw at least 20 of them browsing, not kept in cages. We couldn't decide if they were very big jackrabbits, small gazelles or a cross between the two and something else!
