A world full of friends and wonderful sights

Holland in pictures and postcards
Amsterdam from the air
Panorama of the great city, Amsterdam. This sprawling city entered my blood and I felt more at home there in the 10 days spent than in more than three months in Buenos Aires! It was as if there was an instinctive understanding of the city and its layout. You can see the "circles" formed by the canals, lined with trees.

More info: In the course of the 17th century the famous crescent shape of the Amsterdam city centre was designed and realised resulting in the unique ring of canals. A number of narrow streets and canals, fanning out from the centre of the crescent, traversed the network of concentric semi-circular canals. On the outskirts of the city centre, the canals ended in squares, where the city gates were located. The squares were used as parking places, since vehicles were not always allowed into the city itself.
