The Royal Palace - most important building in town. In front of the palace is an open square
(called Dam Square) where there
are always throngs of tourists, musicians, fiddlers, beggars ... the whole scope of humanity.
The Royals prefer to live in the palace in Rotterdam, and I don't blame
them! It must be upsetting to have a lot of people always literally on
your front porch. The palace is an interesting place, because right
behind it is the maze of small alleyways with lots of "bown cafés", cozy bars
where you can order the typical Dutch "jenewer" and other interesting
nooks and crannies. If you stand in front of the palace, there is a
wonderful department store to your right, a hotel behind you and a wax museum
(called Madam Tussaud's) to your left.
