Different scenes in Amsterdam.
Whether you are walking, cycling, or taking a canal boat trip,
there is something new to see around every corner. The houses that seem to
lean every which way really do! It is because of the swampy consistensy of the
land. Some houses lean back, some forward and some any way they please.
Night views.
Water, bridges, and the reflection of lights - that is how I best remember Amsterdam.
Sunset over the city.
The day I went up on the Westerkerk (West Church) was a clear day and we could see about 30 miles
or so, to the dunes on the beach. Right in front of the triangular building on the right is a coffee
shop (brown café) where I had my first taste of "koffie verkeerd" - literally "wrong coffee". It is
served with lots of warm milk for a delicious treat. And don't forget the appelgebacht (apple pie) with cream ....
