A world full of friends and wonderful sights

      Niagara Falls
      page 2

To take the trip on the Maid-of-the-Mist is another wonderful experience. We did not do it this time, but people who do, enjoy the trip immensely.

Just look at that plume of spray being forced high up into the sky! We were wet, no matter where we stood.

And the rainbow ... the wonderful, beautiful, complete rainbow ....

We waited around for more than an hour to go on the journey behind the falls. For this exercise you get a plastic raincoat to put over your clothes and hair. You get quite wet behind those falls, let me tell you.

There are two portals, opening right behind the curtain of water. You can also walk out on an observation deck, where you see the falls more or less from below. That is where you really get wet!

There were so many people! It was a long weekend in America (Remembrance Day), and we reckon that was the reason. But this is an experience. Standing behind the thundering curtain of water, knowing that the power can kill you in seconds ... it really is something, and well worth the wait.

From the observation deck the Maid-of-the-Mist boat was really close, and when it moved under the rainbow I could hear Judy Garland faintly singing in the distance ....
