South Africa in Pictures and postcards: Addo Elephant Park
Dung beetles have right of way
Dung beetles have right of way! Dung beetles play a very important role in the ecological system. They spend hours to roll balls of dung over the dry roads to where they will finally lay their eggs in them. The dung provides food for the dung beetles. Dung beetles use their strong hind legs to roll the balls, which can be many times bigger than the beetle itself. This is one of nature's wonders, if you care enough to find out more! By the way, elephant dung doesn't smell at all.
