Welcome
Welcome to the little piece of cyberspace that I've decided to call my own. This page originally started out as a project for me to learn web page design but became a victim of its own success: soon it was suffering from neglect because I was getting inquiries to write pages for other people and businesses and I had very little time to keep this page current! This site will continue to evolve as I gain new skills and have the time to code them! If you're a friend, neighbor, chatroom acquaintance, fellow alumni, potential employer, or just someone cast adrift on the seas of fate feel free to pull up a bean bag chair, grab a piña colada or soft drink, and relax and take it all in. This site reads even better with good music...try it!Navigating through my site should be a snap....click on any of the headers in 'khaki', the graphical icons on this page, or on the navbar to take you to a different section. There are a few text links too: can you find them all? Have fun!
OOOooooohhhhh......I'm getting metaphysical and stuff! Seriously, I'm a Generation-X college graduate that has a bachelor's degree in business management with a concentration in human resource management. I really did concentrate in class too.... and I had lots and lots of courses in HR, really!!! Of course, this didn't mean that I would actually GET that HR job....I found that sales paid much better and I liked being in a performance-based occupation.I am a native Michigander that moved to Alabama for some reason or another and I wound up with a college degree (who says that they don't have education in Alabama!) and was snapped up by a plastics company in Savannah, GA. I am a quick learner with many interests, all of which are legal, and I'm flexible which can make me a hit when playing twister. My first name is Ken but I was given the nickname Boone from members of my old college fraternity, Sigma Nu, and almost all of my friends know me by that nickname. Another friend of mine, Linny started referring to everyone (including herself) in 'third person form' and the habit was eventually adopted for my nickname as well. My favorite color is blue and my favorite animal is a dolphin. Ask me all sorts of silly questions if you like! Remember: dirty questions may be shown to your mother!
One of my hobbies is black and white photography and it would be a real shame if you made it all the way to this site and didn't click the link to see them. Some of them are artsy, some of them are funny, but all of them are worth a look!
Boone has lots and lots of experience with computers. I did this web page myself using only Windows notepad, a piece of string and two tin cans. That's about the size of bandwidth here in the deep south. Really, though, my first computer was a TRS-80 Model III that had a whopping 48K memory and I've been online ever since then (well, not continiously). I've seen the days of acoustic modems, the dawn of the first IBM PC, all the way to the killer Pentium-3 super machines. I remember FidoNet, Opus, Mustang, and TBBS Bulletin board systems and how they were laid to the roadside by the popularity of the Internet. This computer was even built by components I purchased at a time when it was a bit more cost efficient to do that way. Too bad I don't have a nice computer degree or some programming experience....
Boone's alma mater is Jacksonville State University in quiet and peaceful Jacksonville, Alabama. Sometimes it gets a little TOO quiet and TOO peaceful so I joined some campus organizations to keep my life bearable and even somewhat exciting. Its in a nice area though and the school is reasonably priced for people working their way through college instead of having rich parents put you through....or even if they are. Maybe they can get you a nice car then! Rent is even cheap and there are some good places to hang out in the area....and don't forget that a recent Miss America, Heather Whitestone , went here too.
Since Boone was a business major he joined a business organization called Phi Beta Lambda, which is a general business club. Maybe you've heard of FBLA (Future Business Leaders of America) which is the high school version before you hit the real thing in college. I was also a member of Sigma Nu fraternity and held several offices and did a pretty good job of executing my duties and meeting my designated responsibilities. I had a great time too. I was a member of the Catholic Student Organization (which has a HR major I know that such affiliations are somewhat 'ka-ka' to make because of the whole freedom of discrimination as applies to religion thingamabob but I wanted to demonstrate that I know the employment laws to you somehow!). I would have joined even more clubs and stuff but I was holding down a full-time management job and I needed some time to study!Boone grew up in a great time where man was taking his first strides into the cosmos and had actually been able to land and walk around on the lunar landscape. Star Trek was the preferred show at dinnertime for years and I got to where I could identify episodes in 20 seconds or less. I am a member of the Planetary Society and am also a participant in the seti@home program, so if my computer is the first to find evidence of ET I'll be the one to get the credit. I just hope they're cute and cuddly like ET and not ALIENS!Top Next
