Tokyo

I've been to Tokyo 5 times, twice when I was 17, just sight seeing, once when I was 19 for 6 months and last year age 21 for a month. I rub the prace.

Tokyo was the first place I arrived on my first visit to Japan. It was a school trip so we had to stay close to the Youth Hostel. Still, my pen-friend Atsuko came to meet me and we went round some bars and to Karaoke-box, amazing start to the holiday. I couldn't have found my way around without her, age 17 Japan is interesting but really confusing with all the Japanese peolple, signs you can't read and people giving you tissues everywhere- weird. I've lost touch with Atsuko now, such a pity.
The second time I went to Tokyo aged 19 was much different. I was more maturand independant after living away from home for a year and I had made an attempt at learning the language this time. I returned because I had lots of pen-friends around Japan from my first trip and they all seemed to be converging on Tokyo to go to University. The guy I stayed with was called Hidetaka and he lived in Nishigahara, Kita-ku.
I only wanted to stay for a holiday, but spent a lot of time hanging around students and Universities. So I found a few jobs doing English tuition and helping people with their homework. After a while whenever my friend Phil and me went into the cafeteria there were people who wanted our help. We enjoyed it at first, but the eventually we got jobs in the cocktail bar: "Chotto Hairu West" in Ikebukuro and worked there until we went home for Christmas 1995.
