EDWARD PASTUSZYNSKI

Edward Pastuszynski was born to Bronislawa Balinska and her husband Roman Pastuszynski on August 15,1916. They were married in 1909. They lived in Buffalo, New York for a few years, then moved to a farm in Marrilla, New York.

Edward worked with his father at a steel foundry as a young teen. He also did many chores on the farm. One of his hobbies was raising rabbits.

At age sixteen, he joined the army, where he spent twenty years serving his country. He served overseas on and behind enemy lines during World War II. He was awarded many medals and ribbons, including the Purple Heart, Bronze Star and Silver Star.
On May 30, 1949, he married Ida Arrington in Columbus, Georgia. They moved to Ft Campbell, Kentucky where they had a daughter, Debra, on March 21, 1954.
They moved to Ft Benning, Georgia in 1956, where they bought a house and he retired from the army as a Major. He then went into construction work as a skilled carpenter. He worked as a carpenter until his health failed him in 1979.
He was also active as a Mason, Shriner, Scottish Rite, American Legion, Veterans of Foreign Wars and the Moose Lodge.

He died on May 6, 1993 at his home. He was buried at Ft. Benning Cemetery with full military honors on May 8.
