Coke Assigns Larger Roles to 3 Officers

Stahl, 46, a former chief financial officer at Coke, will take direct
charge of some international operations for the first time. Now the head
of the company's important North American division, Stahl will expand his
oversight over countries where the company has been struggling, like Brazil,
Colombia and Venezuela. The move is seen as crucial to making him a contender
some day for Coke's top spot, where international experience has been a
prerequisite.
"He still has responsibility for North America, but he just gets to
bring it all the way down to Cape Horn," Goldman said.
Timothy J. Haas, who oversees Coca-Cola's business in Latin America,
will continue in that role but will report to Stahl, not Ivester. Stahl
also takes on responsibility for Minute Maid, Coke's smallest division,
whose president, Ralph H. Cooper, moves to the top of Coca-Cola's North
