Joppa Lodge No.55

BACK TO BASICS, NOTHING MORE NOTHING LESS!

Brethren, First giving honor to God who died for the remission of our sins who loved us so much that He gave up His only begotten Son that who so ever believeth in Him shall not perish but have everlasting life forever after. Please, let us pray together The greatest gift of life is to have a loving and caring family, the second greatest gift is to have two of them. Joppa Lodge #55 is an integral part of my life. We all come to need each other in many different ways and at many different times in our lives. I have come to need you all more than ever, right now. For over eighty years, Joppa Lodge #55, has stood to mean so many different things to so many people. We have been the pillar of strength to those who needed our aid, support or sympathy but this is what we do and for this we do not ask for praise, for your work is with the Lord and your recompense is with your God. I will do my utmost to uphold the privilege that you have bestowed upon me as Worshipful Master of Joppa Lodge #55 for the year 2001 and I will do this with all the strength I can muster. However I am only one man and I come to you my brothers as humbly as I know how and ask for your support in helping me to achieve the goals through the programs that I am about to put forth to keep this lodge a leader in the craft, a pillar in the community and an asset to our lives. I can think of no better theme than "Back to Basics" for we are only as strong as the foundation on which we build. This is truly the new Millennium (one meaning in Webster's dictionary reads, "a hope for period of happiness, peace, prosperity and justice"). So, brethren in closing I would just like to say the desires of man are many but the desires of a Mason should be as plain and clear as possible. It should not be left up to the discretion of the individual to determine his conduct but rather to the sacred teachings of his obligation. I again say thank you for your support and your faith in the year 2001. Jeffery G. Hobbs, Sr. Worshipful Master, 2001AD
