President President William J. Clinton air-trip to/from Moscow VKO [UUWW] 6-03-00 -- 6-05-00 (03 - 05 June 200). Arrival 14:10Z 03 June 2000 Vnukovo airport rwy 20/02 (RDR 126.0 >> TWR 118.3) Airframe - Special US President Boeing 747 navigational callsign Air Force One. Ground controllers have cleared all adjacent airspace 15 minutes prior to Air Force One arrival and re-opened normal air-traffic 7 minutes thereafter. Followed with 15 mins interval by two more unidentified airframes with the following callsigns 727000 750049 With apprx 1.5 hrs interval another airframe arrived with a definite military callsign NAO82. 05 June 2000 09:51Z VKO RDR controller (126.0M) communicates open message that both runways are closed "for technical reasons" though last inbound landed at 10:06Z. 10:04Z inbound flight 1253 is refused clearance to land and is assigned a standart pre-landing waiting orbit. 10:22Z Air Force One takes off VKO 10:23Z Air Force One climbs over 500m toward navigational beacon WZ 10:24Z Air Force One climbs 1200m 10:25Z Flight 1253 allowed to proceed with landing approach 10:25Z air traffic around VKO resumed 10:37Z Air Force One reports to Moscow Control GC its destination (Borispol) and precise ETA. 10:41Z 727000 takes off 10:50Z 750049 takes off 11:15Z NAO45 takes off. This gives a very definite pattern of US President air-travel outside ConUS.
